MSG4Me Celebrates Successful Semester
Over the course of eight weeks in May and June, ten students from Garden of Dreams partner SCAN-Harbor participated in the spring semester of our MSG4Me mentorship program.
The program aims to introduce New York City high school students to various career paths in the sports and entertainment industry by hosting weekly sessions throughout the course of a semester in which mentors leading work across departments at MSG Entertainment and MSG Sports provide insight into their role and engage with the students.
This spring, young people had the opportunity to attend sessions with mentors from MSG’s Legal, Social Impact, and Fan Engagement departments as well as marketing executives at MSG Networks and representatives from Counter Logic Gaming. Additionally, program sponsor Alex Coley and her colleagues at Delta, a marketing partner of MSG Sports and Entertainment, made a special trip to speak with the students about their roles with the airline. Joining the Delta employees, members of the MSG Marketing Partnerships team collaborated in the session to shed light on how their roles intertwine with Delta Air Lines.
Notably, during the semester, the students also enjoyed multiple hands-on experiences including outings to the New York Knicks Training Center and Radio City Music Hall, as well as a special shadowing experience in which young people were backstage with members of the MSG Live team as they prepared for the Chris Brown & Lil Baby concert in the arena. During the students’ final session of the semester at Radio City Music Hall, they enjoyed an interactive stage tour, an opportunity to walk across the Great Stage, and received awards for completing the program from Radio City Rockettes!
Overall, the semester was a resounding success, with students remaining engaged and asking meaningful questions week to week. At the final session, students shared reflections on the program, including immense gratitude for the valuable wisdom dispensed by each and every mentor.
