MSG Classroom Spring 2017: Mario
Working with MSG Networks, MSG Classroom introduces Garden of Dreams teens to the behind-the-scenes world of the television industry and they learn firsthand what it takes to put on a live television show. Students meet with experts in production, editing, directing, camerawork, broadcasting, marketing, social marketing, public relations, advertising sales, and more.
This spring, Mario and other students from Garden of Dreams partner organization WHEDco participated in the MSG Classroom program. Mario shared his experience interviewing New York Rangers goalie Antti Raanta:
“Interviewing Antti Raanta of the New York Rangers was one of the most outstanding experiences I’ve had. From the preparation to the actual interview, I’ve never felt something be so real and serious. I actually felt like a professional reporter doing all the research and writing up my questions. It was great to have a glimpse into what it is like to be a professional reporter and to be on the spotlight. During the actual interview, l was nervous but they weren’t bad nerves. I was excited and anxious to do my best. When I saw Antti walk in everything felt surreal. Seeing all those bright lights and faintly seeing my friends in the background gave me a rush to get started and do my best. I felt prepared and confident and the interview went great. Getting to listen to what Antti had to say in the Kia Gameside Studio made me feeI like a star and it was amazing. It was something I had only seen on TV and I began to realize I was making my friends, my family and last, but not least, myself proud. It’s one of those moments I’ll talk about for the rest of my life and it’s a memory that I’ll never forget.”
