MSG Classroom Alumni Enjoy Unforgettable Workshop with Allan Houston and Tracy Morgan
On Tuesday, July 26, the Garden of Dreams ‘MSG Classroom’ alumni gathered for a special networking event – hosted by MSG Networks – featuring tips and tricks for the professional world, a group luncheon, and career and life advice from celebrity guests Allan Houston and Tracy Morgan.
The group gathered in the MSG Networks studio for an inspirational workshop. The young people first heard from MSG People Practice’s Celia Pena about her success story as a first-generation college graduate. She then gave the young people some tips on networking, resume building, internships, and interviewing.
Knicks legend Allan Houston was next in the lineup and spoke to the young people about his journey and successful brand, FISSL. He spoke about obstacles he has had to overcome and what continuously inspires him in his career. When speaking about his legacy, Houston said he focuses mainly on what he is building right now, in this moment, explaining “you should always be growing, always be evolving.”
Houston then introduced Tracy Morgan, known for his legendary stand-up comedy career, iconic roles on “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live,” and of course, never missing a Knicks game. The young people cheered, excited by the surprise guest. Houston asked Morgan various questions about his career, life, and experience on “SNL.” Morgan told the young people about the main characters who had a big impact on him as a comedian, such as Lorne Michaels and Will Ferrell.
The presentations ended with a Q&A session where Houston and Morgan emphasized the importance of being brave and staying true to themselves as they start their college careers and beyond.
The day concluded with a lunch where Houston generously handed out limited edition gear from his FISSL brand, including sweatshirts and hats. The young people thanked Houston and Morgan for coming and were inspired after spending the day hearing about the paths they overcame and the wisdom they shared.
