Chloe Flower Invites Youth to Lincoln Center Performance
On Saturday, June 9, Garden of Dreams performing artists had the opportunity to participate in a music workshop and watch renowned pianist Chloe Flower perform at Lincoln Center in New York City.
To start the day, our aspiring performers arrived at Lincoln Center greeted with a day of musical enrichment and education. Seated by the iconic fountain and newly built disco ball, they participated in a pre-show workshop. During the workshop, the instructors showed them different ways to compose music on a piano and taught them about keys and other components of piano-playing. Following the lessons, the instructors handed out instruments for everyone to join in on making music and even producing a virtual piano to stream on their phone.
After making music themselves, the group was treated to a performance by pianist, composer, and producer Chloe Flower at Hearst Plaza – her music was a combination of classical melodies and pop beats, including a cover of Billie Eilish’s hit song “Bad Guy.” Flower encouraged the young people to get up and dance to her original music while young professional dancers performed alongside Chloe on the plaza, making the experience even more of an enriching homage to music and all the arts.
Flower then stayed after her show and gathered by her piano to answer questions and provide additional insight into the life of a musician.
