Wall of Dreams

The New York Knicks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation hosted 250 children and families from the New York City Department of Homeless Services for a Thanksgiving Dinner celebration. New York Knicks players Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Brandon Jennings, Courtney Lee, Joakim Noah, Willy Hernangomez, and Mindaugas Kuzminskas were on-hand serving Thanksgiving dinner. Hosted by Talent Harris and Damaris Lewis, the Thanksgiving Dinner celebration also included pop-a-shots, cookie decorating, and dance party to conclude the night!

The New York Rangers and Garden of Dreams hosted a Fall Feast for 300 children and  families from the New York City Department of Homeless Services at La Marina. New York Rangers players Brady Skjei, Josh Jooris, and Pavel Buchnevich joined the festivities, which included a life size light bright, cookie decorating, photo booth, and corn hole. 

New York Knicks legends Bernard King, Larry Johnson, and John Starks along with MSG Networks Rebecca Haarlow greeted our Garden of Dreams children from WHEDco atop the Empire State Building, giving them a memory they'll cherish forever!

New York Rangers and Garden of Dreams teamed up for a 'Show Kids New York' event at Ellis Island that included a ferry ride by the Statue of Liberty! New York Rangers' Chris Kreider, Oscar Lindberg along with New York Rangers alumni Dave Maloney and Tom Laidlaw joined our kids for a tour of the historical landmark!

Our Garden of Dreams children from WHEDco enjoyed playing Reindeer Games with Rudolph and Hermey the Elf at The Garden ! After the festivities, Garden of Dreams received a five hundred ticket donation for our children to see Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical at the Theater at MSG in December!

Dancing since she was three years old, Stephanie refused to let her December 2015 cancer diagnosis prevent her from pursuing her passion. Determined to use her journey as a platform to educate others about cancer, Stephanie created her own hashtag: #cancermessedwiththewrongdancer. As a girl who loved her hair, she was terrified of losing her locks, but realized that losing her hair made her feel free. One hundred Garden of Dreams girls were invited to participate in the New York Liberty Girls Empowerment Series presented by Chase! Before hitting the court to practice their basketball skills, the girls had the opportunity to speak with inspirational women including NYL legends Kym Hampton and Teresa Weatherspoon, MSG Networks' Rebecca Haarlow, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Garden of Dreams Advisory Board member Damaris Lewis.

Garden of Dreams and the New York Liberty hosted an End of Summer BBQ at our partner organization WHEDco and our kids had a blast with NYL players Bec Allen, Brittany Boyd, Shoni Schimmel, Carolyn Swords, Sugar Rodgers, and Shavonte Zellous!

The New York Liberty and Garden of Dreams hosted a Cupcake Battle at Taste Buds Kitchen as part of the "Show Kids NY" program! ‪New York Liberty players Carolyn Swords, Adut Bulgak, Kiah Stokes, and Amanda Zahui B. joined our ‪‎Garden of Dreams‬ children for an afternoon full of smiles, laughs, and lots of frosting.

Rachel credits her younger sister Maya as being her unbreakable support system and their bond of singing as a way to help Rachel deal with her surgeries. After seeing her sister in the hospital, Maya now wants to pursue a career in medicine.
