A Thanksgiving Dinner to Remember with Garden of Dreams and the New York Knicks
Last Monday the Garden of Dreams Foundation, in partnership with the New York Knicks and TAO Cares, hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at the famed venue LAVO for 100 young people and families affiliated with the New York City Department of Homeless Services.
Hosted by Knicks broadcaster and TODAY Show contributor, Jill Martin, the star-studded event featured Knicks legends John Starks, John Wallace and Latrell Sprewell along with The Wire’s Hassan Johnson serving buffet-style dinner, a 360-camera photobooth, and basketball entertainment for the children. The excitement did not stop there – current players from the Knicks, unable to attend the dinner in person, recorded video messages for the evening’s guests, which played throughout the night between live performances by Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC and O.A.R. frontman Marc Roberge.
Notably, the musical performance that closed out the night came from Miles, a star on the rise who recently signed with R&B singer Ne-Yo. In 2018, Miles performed on the Great Stage at Radio City Music Hall as a participant in the Garden of Dreams Talent Show. Before his set last Monday, Miles inspired the crowd with his message that he used to sit in the very same seats as the young people sat in at that very moment. It was an unforgettable experience for all.
