“Show Kids NY” – The Empire State Building
January 2011

On Tuesday, January 25, the Garden of Dreams Foundation teamed up with the New York Knicks and hosted a special "Show Kids New York" event. Knicks player Danilo Gallinari joined 16 children from the Garden of Dreams Foundation's partner organization, Loisaida, on a trip to New York's most iconic skyscraper - the Empire State Building!

Like many of the children, this trip was Danilo's first time visiting the Empire State Building.

Their adventure began with a walk through the "Hall of Fame" - a long hallway covered with pictures of the world's most glamorous celebrities who had once come to visit the building. Then, they took an elevator ride to the 86th Floor Observation Deck where they had a chance to discover what the city looks like from 1,050 feet in the air!

While atop one of the world's most famous buildings, Danilo spent time enjoying the spectacular view with the children - each trying to point out their home amongst the city's skyline.  After the children received a bag full of Knicks gear, the fun continued with picture taking and autograph signing!

To finish off their visit to the Empire State Building, the children took an exciting adventure tour on the NY SKYRIDE - a unique experience that takes guests on a virtual tour of New York City. Through the magic of flight simulation, the children were able "fly over" around nearly three dozen landmarks that New York is famous for without ever leaving the second floor of the Empire State Building!

The afternoon ended with food and laughter as the children claimed, "This was the most amazing day ever!"
