The New York Rangers and Garden of Dreams recently teamed up to fulfill the wish of 17 year old Miranda Isaacs from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Miranda’s wish was to meet Henrik Lundqvist and watch him play at Madison Square Garden.
On January 18, Miranda’s wish finally came true! Miranda and her entire family; father, Christopher, mother, Elizabeth and brother, Anthony, were picked up in a limo at their hotel in New York City and brought to the MSG Training Center in Tarrytown, NY for her special experience. Upon arrival to the Training Center for her special day, Miranda was escorted to the ice where she sat rink side with her family to watch the Rangers practice! While at practice, Miranda and her family met MSG Network announcers, Dave Maloney and Joe Micheletti. As the Rangers took the ice, Rangers President and General Manager, Glen Sather, presented Miranda and her entire family with personalized Rangers jerseys as well as gift bags filled with Rangers and Garden of Dreams items.
After practice, Henrik came off the ice to welcome Miranda. Miranda beamed from ear to ear as her all-time favorite player stood before her. At that moment, Miranda was speechless as she met “King Henrik” for the first time. Before heading to lunch, Miranda also received a surprise visit from a special guest who was at the Rangers practice…Academy Award winner, Cuba Gooding, Jr.!
After a fantastic morning, Miranda and her family enjoyed lunch in the facility’s cafeteria alongside many current Rangers players, including Marian Gaborik, Brad Richards, Ryan Callahan, Michael Del Zotto and Brian Boyle! Each and every player welcomed Miranda to her wish, took a photo and signed autographs.
After lunch, Miranda received a behind the scenes tour of the Rangers practice facility from Henrik!
Henrik brought Miranda into the locker room, training room and equipment area, as well as the classroom where the team has video sessions. In the locker room, Henrik made a special stop at his stall to pose for a photo with Miranda and also answer her questions about his game preparation and equipment. Along the way Miranda also met Head Coach, John Tortorella and Assistant Coach, Mike Sullivan! Miranda soaked it all in and smiled the entire time.
After an exciting day at the MSG Training Center, Miranda and her family headed back to New York City to attend the New York Knicks game!
The following day, Miranda attended the Rangers—Penguins game at Madison Square Garden in VIP seats where she received a special welcome on Gardenvision in front of a sold-out crowd!
This truly was an amazing experience for Miranda and her family and something that she will remember for the rest of her life.
