On Tuesday, March 2, the Garden of Dreams Foundation, in partnership with the New York Rangers, Knicks and Liberty, celebrated the completion of its annual room refurbishment project with a celebration at the site of its fourth project; Children's Aid Society's Frederick Douglass Center in New York City.

With the help of Samix International, Inc. and its President, contractor Omar Rivera, the Foundation, Rangers, Knicks, and Liberty were able to tranform a room in the site's basement into an activity space filled with everything from new lighting, floors, walls, and furniture, to toys, books, and games.

"The work that the Garden of Dreams Foundation does makes the work that we do easier," said Tracey Haqq, Director of the Frederick Douglass Center. "The kids have a place they can come relax and leave some of the stress from the streets outside. This room is so comfortable and very functional."

This year's room was dedicated in honor of Clark Elie. Elie, a dedicated employee of the Children's Aid Society for more than 30 years, passed away suddenly this past December.

On hand to help dedicate and celebrate the opening of the "Clark Elie Activity Center" were Rangers alumnus Ron Duguay, Liberty alumnus Kym Hampton, Knicks alumnus Cal Ramsey, and the Knicks City Dancers.

When Samantha learned she was being granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Sam wished to record a song, written by her, alongside a celebrity. Sam was delighted when she learned that Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child was on board to make her wish come true!

On Wednesday, Sam’s wish began with a tour of Radio City Music Hall with Fuse Host, Toure. Sam and Toure spent the entire tour talking about music and artists that he’s interviewed. During the tour, Toure presented Sam with a guitar signed by several artists – Sam was so happy, “This is the best day of my life!”, she screamed. Along the tour, Sam and her family also met a Radio City Rockette who presented the family with several gifts on behalf of Garden of Dreams and MSG Entertainment.

At 5:30PM, Sam and guests arrived at One East Recording Studio and Sam was beaming! Michelle walked in, met Sam and they went right to work. They shared special moments creating music just like Sam imagined. MSG organist Ray Castoldi was the pianist for the wish and helped bring Sam’s song to life. Michelle kept telling Sam how talented she was and with each motivation her voice got louder and stronger!

The night ended with Michelle giving Sam a Karaoke machine, all her solo albums, Destiny’s Child albums and one from the musical Chicago. Michelle also presented the family with tickets to see Michelle in her role as Roxy in Chicago with backstage access! The entire family was so happy and grateful.

They walked out of the studio while dad hummed the melody to “Make It Last” - Sam’s song.
