Rangers “Show Kids New York” at Chelsea Piers
On Friday, January 4, the Rangers and Garden of Dreams hosted 100 children at Chelsea Piers as part of the Foundation’s signature “Show Kids New York” program designed to highlight New York City’s greatest attractions to Garden of Dreams children. During this installment of the program, children from two of the Foundation’s partner organizations, Children’s Village and Life Center, had the afternoon of a lifetime in the Field House at Chelsea Piers.
In the Field House, the children were split into three groups and paired up with Rangers alumni Nick Fotiu, Ron Greschner and Brian Mullen to enjoy a variety of fun, interactive activities led by Chelsea Piers staff. The activities ranged from soccer, dodgeball and basketball to batting cage lessons, rock climbing and gymnastics.
“Kids are doing some rock climbing, soccer, I got rocked a couple of times in dodgeball and beat on the basketball court,” said Ron Greschner, “but we’re having fun, the kids are having fun.”
After working up an appetite running from activity to activity, the children joined their new Ranger friends for a pizza party. Before leaving, each child received an autographed photo from the alumni and a Rangers and Garden of Dreams gift bag.
As one child gathered his belongings, he cheered, “This is the best day of my life!”
