MSG Networks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation have been honored with a 2013 Beacon Award in the Education category for the 2012 Fall Semester of their “MSG Classroom” program. The Beacon Awards are presented annually by The Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) and recognize programming networks, cable systems, and cable associations for excellence in communications and public affairs.

Created in 2007 with partner organization Children’s Aid Society, “MSG Classroom” is an eight-week course, offered twice a year, that provides high school students in the New York City area with the opportunity to learn about the television business using MSG Networks’ award-winning, state-of-the-art facilities with guidance from the networks’ staff and on-air personalities. More than 100 students have participated in the program, which just completed its 13th consecutive semester.

MSG Networks is the exclusive local television home of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, New York Liberty and New York Red Bulls, and the official regional sports networks of the New York Giants. MSG Networks also telecasts over 100 live college basketball games and over 40 live college football games from top national conferences (SEC, Big 12, Big East, Pac 12, Conference USA), as well as horse racing, boxing and award-winning original programming. In 2013, MSG Networks received 18 New York Emmy Awards, including 16 for MSG and one each for MSG+ and MSG.com. MSG’s 85 Emmys over the past six years are more than any single network or station in the region during that time.
