MSG Classroom Goes "Outside the Box"
On Tuesday, April 30, teens from Garden of Dreams partner organization, Children’s Aid Society, culminated the Spring 2013 installment of MSG Classroom with the premiere of their original production, Outside the Box. The premiere party was hosted by MSG Network analyst, Steve Cangialosi and attended by friends, family and Madison Square Garden Company employees to celebrate the success of teens’ show and completion of the program.
Throughout the Spring semester, teens from the MSG Classroom program had the opportunity to meet with MSG Network professionals including producers, editors and script writers. In addition to learning how to produce shows, write scripts and edit videos, the teens received an inside look on how to operate the cameras, create graphic designs and perfect interviewing techniques. Following the instructional lessons, the teens put their learned skills to use with the chance to interview radio play-by-play announcer Kenny Albert, New York Rangers goalie Martin Biron and New York Giants defenseman Justin Tuck.
While immersed in the sports television industry, the teens also took away two important life lessons – teamwork and work ethic. The MSG Classroom program has provided the teens with confidence that they will carry into their futures. Who knows, MSG Classroom teens might be future television writers, on-air talent or producers!
