Foundation Unveils Refurbishments at Hospital

The Garden of Dreams Foundation unveiled its largest refurbishment project to date with a complete overhaul of the common spaces in the Children’s Diagnostic Radiology Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. The newly remodeled space offers a more comfortable, soothing, child- and family-friendly atmosphere for the 11,500 children who visit the center each year for everything from sports-related injuries to life threatening diseases.

Talent Show Highlights

On Tuesday, April 16, over 100 children from various Garden of Dreams partner organizations participated in the Garden of Dreams Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall. In partnership with MSG Entertainment, the Talent Show provided the opportunity for children to put their obstacles aside - whether related to illness, homelessness, poverty, foster care issues or tragedy - to perform on on the Great Stage. From singers and dancers to pianists and violinists, each child was inspired to "Dare to Dream."

Journey to the 2013 Talent Show

The Garden of Dreams Talent Show is an annual event where children from various Garden of Dreams partner organizations are presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on the Great Stage at Radio City Music Hall. For one memorable evening in front of their family and friends, the children perform with talent, emotion and passion, forgetting their problems and celebrating their unique voices. The talent show and multiple rehearsals leading up to the big night attract many notable guests as mentors.

Behind the Star: Julianna

At 6 years old, Julianna from Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, graced the Great Stage with confidence and beauty to sing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King."

Behind the Star: Alexis

Alexis Stewart is from Garden of Dreams partner organization NYPD Widow's and Children's Foundation. Her story is representative of all the children who performed in the Talent Show.

Talent Show at Radio City

In partnership with MSG Entertainment, the Garden of Dreams Talent Show is one of the Foundation’s most anticipated and impactful events of the year. Hosted at Radio City Music Hall, more than 100 children from the Foundation’s partner organizations will have the opportunity to put their troubles aside and showcase their talents on the Great Stage. Whether facing obstacles related to illness, homelessness, poverty, foster care issues or tragedy, each child will grace the stage with his/her talent – ranging from singers and dancers to pianists and violinists.

New York Knicks Basketball Clinic

On Thursday March 14, the Garden of Dreams and New York Knicks produced a basketball clinic for 60 co-ed kids at Foundation partner organization SCO Family of Services in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. The clinic, which was kicked off with performances by the Knicks City Dancers, taught the kids the fundamentals of basketball. Knicks Legend John Starks was on hand to give personal shooting instruction, while other Knicks clinic coaches ran dribbling, passing, rebounding and conditioning exercises.

Power Players Record Another Successful Season

The New York Rangers and Garden of Dreams Foundation held year two of the Rangers and Garden of Dreams Power Players program. The introductory street hockey program kicked off its 2012-13 sessions in November with a series of launch events featuring Rangers staff and alumni Nick Fotiu, Dave Maloney, and Brian Mullen. Throughout the eight week program, the instruction was based upon six values: Commitment, Excellence, Fun, Respect, Responsibility and Teamwork.
